End of season awards/stats

Thu May 25, 2017 11:07 pm

So congrats again to Brent and on to the awards for the season and some stats to help you decide how to change your strategy for next season (Yes, I'm thinking about next season already!!)

LEAGUE WINNER: BRENT

CUP WINNER: MATT

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SPOTS: BARRY, ALEX & DAN

ALL-STAR TEAM:

LLORIS (SPURS)
CAHILL (CHELSEA)
COLEMAN (EVERTON)
AZPILICUETA (CHELSEA)
ALDERWEIRELD (SPURS)

SANCHEZ (ARSENAL)
DELE ALLI (SPURS)
ERIKSEN (SPURS)
HAZARD (CHELSEA)

KANE (SPURS)
LUKAKU (EVERTON)

interesting to see the breakdown this season: 5 Spurs, 3 Chelsea, 2 Everton (!) and 1 Arsenal. No players from Liverpool, City and (I think for the 1st time ever) United! :(

MOST GOALS: 97 BRENT (I think this is one short of Amirah's record of 98 a few years back?)

MOST CLEAN SHEETS: 65 DAN & STEVE

MOST ASSISTS: 65 BARRY

STEVE 586
Dan 539
Amirah 515
Alex 514
Barry 505
Brent 490
Ashton 404
Marcus 368
Ashwin 356
Matt 352

RANKING BY MIDFIELD

Barry 643

Alex 536
Ashwin 529
Dan 501
Brent 487
Steve 411
Ashton 403
Amirah 381
Marcus 348
Matt 344

RANKING BY FORWARDS

Brent 389

Steve 313
Ashton 295
Dan 285
Alex 278
Amirah 246
Marcus 226
Barry 218
Ashwin 167
Matt 129

DEFENCE: Steve's rock solid defnce was based around Lloris and Coleman amassing 270 points between them, whilst his other defenders Matip, Blind and Reid all chipped in with 70+ points.

MIDFIELD: Barry ran away with this category, scoring over 100 points more than anyone else. Points leader Sanchez 227 + Eriksen 165 were the lynchpins of his team, ably supported by Arnautovic 103 and Wijnaldum 99.

FORWARDS: Not surprisngly Brent led in this category (given 97 goals) and having the top 2 scorers in the league - Kane and Lukaku made it a non-contest. In contrast Matt's front 3 of Long 54, Batshauyi 41 and Musa 34 amassed a mere 129 points between them (a record low)!

184 Dele Alli (Alex)
171 Costa (Ashton)
165 Eriksen (Barry)
163 Cahill (Brent)
160 Hazard (Brent)
152 KdB (Steve)
146 Zlatan (Steve)
139 Sigurdsson (Brent)
137 Coleman (Steve)
137 Llorente (Marcus)
134 Benteke (Amirah)

110 King (Dan)
110 Baines (Alex)
110 Alonso (Amirah)
104 Defoe (Alex)
104 Giroud (Ashton)
104 Valencia (Alex)
103 Arnautovic (Barry)
103 Vertonghen (ashton)
101 Walcott (Ashton)
101 Willian (Alex)

Just 2 points to finish on:
Another demonstration on what a mediocre season United had, only 2 United players (DDG and Zlatan) scored over 100 pts and, by way of some small consolation to Amirah who has had a very below par season, the much-maligned Christian Benteke was the "best value" player - earning 134 points at a cost of £2m (67 pts per £1m) - just a small crumb toi throw back at Brent when the banter kicks in again
