Guide to Links (what to code and what not to)

There are 3 types of links that you can use.

The first is just the simple typed http reference. This should only be used for internal topics on the Lounge as a fresh browser window is NOT created.
Example: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=600

In your message it will look like this

Code: Select all

Check out the United Lounge User Guide http://www.unitedlounge.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=600

The second is for external links to other sites (except video links ie youtube). A new window will be opened automatically. Type or paste the link as normal. Highlight it. Click the URL button
Example: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/footbal" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... efault.stm

In your message it will look like this

Code: Select all

Check on the BBC homepage for Man United at http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/m/man_utd/default.stm

The third is for external links to video clips ie youtube. This is not really an active link as it is entered as code. The user has to copy the link to another browser. The reason for this is we don't want these sites linked from the Lounge. Type or paste the link as normal. Highlight it. Click the Code button
Example:

Code: Select all

http://youtube.com/watch?v=YeoOqNaJlYc
In your message it will look like this

Code: Select all

I promised to bring you the video of Manucho's goal against egypt and here it is, quality is bad but good enough at the moment since none of us has seen him live before, was a nice goal, enjoy.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=YeoOqNaJlYc
How to produce links with words

example: Check out the United Lounge User Guide

This can only be produced using the URL Button.

To do this: Type the text you want to be displayed. Highlight it. Click the URL button.

You will get something that looks like this:

Code: Select all

Check out the United Lounge User Guide
Then between the l of url and the first ] bracket type = and paste the link. It will look like this:

Code: Select all

Check out the United Lounge User Guide
