Hello and welcome to United Lounge.

Rules For This Community
Rules are determined by respect and tolerance for opinions other than you own and are required to ensure others are not offended or insulted by your contributions and that they do not break the law.

1. Respect each other. Treat others as you expect to be treated. Any serious and continued attacks on other posters will result in a cooling off period.

2. We are all adults, so are not going to get offended by some swearing just as long as you are not swearing at others in an abusive or hostile way. To paraphrase the words of Brian Clough "No shitty swearing, gentlemen please"

3. We do not tolerate racism, religious bigotry or any hatred expressed towards other cultures, creeds, colour or political views etc. This includes offensive insults directed at other fans on the subjects of Munich, Heysel, Hillsbrough etc. Offenders may face an instant ban.

4. You are strongly advised to set your personal email address under "Users can contact me by e-mail=No" in the Board Preferences of your profile to avoid unwanted abuse and spam. Please do not post contact details on the board as we all dont want to see it but we are all adults so if you wish to exchange contact details in private message this is ok but please be safe and only to do so with those people you know and trust.

5. Links to streaming live video is not permitted, live radio is ok.

6. Only post in English at all times. Text talk, especially excessive use, is considered a foreign language and should not be used.

7. Don't spam or post links to illegal sites or other message boards. If you have come here to sell products or services or to recruit members for other message boards, money making schemes or anything other to be a regular member of this community, then you will be banned.

8. Stuff not allowed here includes:
  • Pornography
    Discussion advocating any illegal activities, including :
    • hacking;
      criminal actions;
      streaming of copyrght video;
      etc
9. Any attempt to deliberately disrupt this community or this message board facility including hacking or attempting to obtain others passwords, will result in an instant ban.

The Team Structure
The support team for members are listed as Administrators, Global Moderators, Assistant Refereee, Donation Members (ViP) and Registered Users (members). No one, in any position, receives a wage or an annuninity and are volunteers working to provide a fun and safe place to talk about Football.

What are Administrators?
Administrators are the founders of the message board, the owners of the club if you like, who are responsible for the entire board. Your wont see them much as they are only used for making major changes to the board.

What are Global Moderators?
Global Moderators are the original members of the messaage board, the directors if you like. Their positions are not voted for but are appointed by the Administrators annually. Global moderators have full moderation authority over the entire board.

What are Assistant Referees?
Assistant Referees are volunteers who are elected by the Valued Members (ViPs) to serve as moderators for a term of 3 months. Only ViPs can become Assistant Referees. They have authority, like the Global Moderators to operate the board and if necessary warn users they have broken the rules and in some cases have to suspend a users for a period.

What are Donation Members (ViP)?
Donation Members (ViP) are members of the community who have been here for a while, have a good reputation and are respected by their peers. Donation members contribute to the cost of the servers. Without them we wouldn't be here or you would all have to pay something. All members may become ViPs but they can not ask to join the "club". The ViPs will nominate and vote for a member to join based on his length of service, reputation, posting quailty, teamwork, and other important criteria like how well the member gets on with other members.

Note: On each users profile there are 2 avatars each member can have. The top one top is a personal choice but the lower of the two is a badge of honour in the community. If a new member shows up with a copy of one of the ViP, Ref or Mod badges as a personal (top) avatar and the Red bar Player Status underneath then you will know they are immitating an official and should be reported.

What are usergroups?
Usergroups in this community are fixed and set to each rank of the Team (above)

How do I join a usergroup?
As explained above, you can not join one but must be invited to join that group. When invited, and accepted, your position will be changed by an administrator.

How do I become a usergroup leader?
There are no usergroup leaders here.

Why do some usergroups appear in a different colour?
Those are the colours assigned by the Administrator to the different groups and appear on the Who Is Online in those colours for ease of identification.

What is a “Default usergroup”?
A member may only belong to one user group so their are no default groups operational here.

What is “The team” link?
This page provides you with a list of the team structure, including board Administrators and Global Moderators, etc

How do I post a topic in a forum?
To post a new topic in a forum, click "NEWTOPIC*" button at the top or foot of the forum you want to use. Only registered members can post in forums except the Trible Joining where guests are permitted.

There is no NEWTOPIC* Button!
If there is not a NEWTOPIC* button then you do not have the right to start a new topic in that forum, or you are not looking inside one forum.

How do I edit or delete a post?
To the left of the message you entered is a EDIT button and a X button. If they are not or no longer displayed then you do not have the right to edit or delete that post as either it has been too long since it was posted or someone has replied to it.

How do I add a signature to my post?
You can not add a signature to one post but signatures are applied to all your posts and can be set in the Account Settings panel ( previously called UCP), accessed at the top of the forum page. Once created, you can check the Add signature box on the bottom left of the posting form to add your signature or tick it off to not post it. If this option is not available then you do not have the right to add or not add a signature or you have not created a signature. You can add a signature by default to all your posts, the equivellant of default on, by checking the appropriate radio button under Board Preferences / Edit Posting Defaults. If you do so, you can still prevent a signature being added to individual posts by un-checking the add signature box within the posting form.

How do I create a poll?
Users can not create polls; only Admin GM's RA's and VIP's can

Why can’t I access a forum?
Some forums are limited to certain groups (ViP Lounge for example).

What attachments are allowed on this board?
None

Why did I receive a warning?
If you have seriously broken a rule, the warning is issued as both information that you have broken a rule and as a deterent to not do so again.

How can I report posts to a moderator?
You should see a button for reporting posts inside each message along side the others name at the top of each message. Click this to walk you through the steps necessary to report the post.

What is the “Save” button for in topic posting?
This allows you to save passages to be completed and submitted at a later date. To reload a saved passage, visit Account Settings.

Why does my post need to be approved?
Only guests (users not signed in) or problem members/rival fans that constantly break rules are forced to have posts reviewed by a moderator before they can be seen by all members.

How do I get "off" posts need approval?
Only users that constantly behave badly are placed on post review. Start behaving well and if you ask in Q&A we will consider it based on your more recent posting habits.

Users can not bump a topic

How can I search a forum or forums?
Enter a search term in the search box located on the index, forum or topic pages. Advanced search can be accessed by clicking the “Advance Search” link which is available on all pages on the forum. How to access the search may depend on the style used.

Why does my search return no results?
Your search was probably too vague and included many common terms which are not indexed by the software. Be more specific and use the options available within Advanced search.

Why does my search return a blank page!?
Your search returned too many results for the webserver to handle. Use “Advanced search” and be more specific in the terms used and forums that are to be searched.

How do I search for members?
Visit to the “Members” page and click the “Find a member” link.

How can I find my own posts and topics?
Your own posts can be retrieved either by clicking the “View your posts” option at the top or the “Search user’s posts” within the Account Settings panel or via your own profile page. To search for your topics, use the Advanced search page and fill in the various options appropriately.

How do I change my settings?
To alter your settings, visit your Account Settings; a link can be found at the top of board pages. This system will allow you to change all your settings and preferences.

The times are not correct!
It is possible the time displayed is from a timezone different from the one you are in. If this is the case, visit your Account Settings and change your timezone to match your particular area, e.g. London, Paris, New York, Sydney, etc. Please note that changing the timezone, like most settings, can only be done by registered users. If you are not registered, this is a good time to do so.

I changed the timezone and the time is still wrong!
If you are sure you have set the timezone and Summer Time/DST correctly and the time is still incorrect, then the time stored on the server clock is incorrect. Please notify an administrator to correct the problem.

My language is not in the list!
This message board is for English language only.

How do I show an image below my username?
There are two images that may appear below a username when viewing posts. The first may is your personal avatar which you can set yourself. The second is associated with your rank, generally in the form of stars, indicating how many posts you have made or your status on the board.

What is my rank and how do I change it?
Users can not change it.

I keep getting unwanted private messages!
User are not allowed to send private messages. Only ViPs and moderators. If you are receiving a warning you can not block these. If you are receiving personal abuse from any member then inform the admin by email on administrator@unitedlounge.com

Can users contact me by email?
Yes they can, but you can stop that yourself. All members are advised to set your profile to NO. If you do not set this yourself in Account Settings from the default YES then you could recieve abuse from others or get spammed with thousands of emails which isn't very nice.

I have received an abusive e-mail from someone on this board!
We are sorry to hear that. You should have your board preferences set to NO to not allow anyone/everyone to email you. Chage this setting to NO but also inform the admin by email on administrator@unitedlounge.com

I see spam posts or have received a spamming e-mail from someone on this board!
We still want to crack down on people coming here to try to sell products/services (spam) and those that only come to try to sell/buy tickets and memorabilia and stuff or to recruit members for money schemes or to join other boards. Our view is that those people just joining (based on join date/post count) trying to sell stuff should be kicked off so report their posts or if receive unsolicited PMs then report it to the adminirator. Members of long standing that occasionlly have a couple of tickets for sale or want to sell their program collection for example, will be allowed to do so.

What is BBCode?
BBCode is a special implementation of HTML, offering great formatting control on particular objects in a post. BBCode itself is similar in style to HTML, but tags are enclosed in square brackets [ and ] rather than < and >.

Can I use HTML?
No. It is not possible to post HTML on this board. Most formatting which can be carried out using HTML can be applied using BBCode instead.

What are Smilies?
Smilies, or Emoticons, are small images which can be used to express a feeling using a short code, e.g. :) denotes happy, while :( denotes sad. The full list of emoticons can be seen in the posting form. Try not to overuse smilies, however, as they can quickly render a post unreadable and a moderator may edit them out or remove the post altogether. We have also have set a limit to the number of smilies you may use within a post.

Can I post images?
Yes, images can be shown in your posts. You must link to an image stored on a publicly accessible web server, e.g. http://www.example.com/my-picture.gif. You cannot link to pictures stored on your own PC nor images stored behind authentication mechanisms, e.g. hotmail or yahoo mailboxes, password protected sites, etc. To display the image use the BBCode [img] tag.

What are global announcements?
Global announcements contain important information and you should read them whenever possible. They will appear at the top of every forum and within your Account Settings.

Sticky topics within the forum appear below announcements and only on the first page. They are the topics that often get duplicated so appear pinned to the top while they are a talking point..

What are locked topics?
Locked topics are topics where users can no longer reply and any poll it contained was automatically ended. Topics may be locked for many reasons and were set this way by the moderators

What are topic icons?
Topic icons are author chosen images associated with posts to indicate their content. Only VIP's GM's AR's have access for use.

Can I use abbreviations?
Yes, STANDARD abbreviations are fine and can be used by anyone ie tbh, imo, for examples. BUT dont use text talk.

What are my Friends and Foes lists?
You can use these lists to organise other members of the board. Members added to your friends list will be listed within your Account Settings for quick access to see their online status and to send them private messages. If you add a user to your foes list, any posts they make will be hidden by default.

How can I add / remove users to my Friends or Foes list?
You can add users to your list in two ways. Within each user’s profile, there is a link to add them to either your Friend or Foe list. Alternatively, from your Account Settings, you can directly add users by entering their member name. You may also remove users from your list using the same page.

Why can’t I login?
There are several reasons why this could occur. First, ensure your username and password are correct. If they are, contact the board owner to make sure you haven’t been banned. It is also possible the website owner has a configuration error on their end, and they would need to fix it.

Why do I get logged off automatically?
If you do not check the Log me in automatically box when you login, the board will only keep you logged in for a preset time. This prevents misuse of your account by anyone else. To stay logged in, check the box during login. This is not recommended if you access the board from a shared computer, e.g. library, internet cafe, university computer lab, etc.

How do I prevent my username appearing in the online user listings?
You can't.

I’ve lost my password! :ugeek:
Don’t panic! your password cannot be retrieved but it can easily be reset. Visit the login page and click I’ve forgotten my password. Follow the instructions and you should be able to log in again shortly.

I registered but cannot login!
First, check your username and password If they are correct. Also ensure that if you recently registered that you have authenticated your details by clicking onthe link contained in the email. The email may be in your junk/bulk folder. If you do not recieve an email conatct the administrator administrator@unitedlounge.com using the same email account.

I registered in the past but cannot login any more?!
Attempt to locate the e-mail sent to you when you first registered, check your username and password and try again. It is possible an administrator has deactivated or deleted your account for some reason. Also, periodically we may remove users who have not posted for a long time to reduce the size of the database. If this has happened, try registering again and being more involved in discussions.

Why can’t I register?
It is possible the website owner has banned your IP address or disallowed the username you are attempting to register (swear words etc). The website owner could have also disabled registration to prevent new visitors from signing up. If this persists then contact a board administrator for assistance at administrator@unitedlounge.com

What does the “Delete all board cookies” do?
“Delete all board cookies” deletes the cookies created by phpBB which keep you authenticated and logged into the board. It also provides functions such as read tracking if they have been enabled by the board owner. If you are having login or logout problems, deleting board cookies may help.
