It would be great if a few regulars could be given a rest but unfortunately we will need to make sure we get maximum points so no rest on the horizon.

The Cherries have their backs against the wall, so this will inevitably turn into another all-out game, unfortunately.

Its good for the team to have more or less a week off - its been a tough schedule. Give them today and tomorrow to rest and then focus on Bouremouth.

We could rotate some players but we need to keep rolling - fancy zlatan to get another couple here.

Hopefully MickyT is back as well

Probably Micki will be fit.

No excuses, we need the 3 points here. This is a potential banana skin type of game. Bournemouth do concede alot of goals, but also get forward well and create chances. going for 2-1.

We need to win, so we can put pressure on Liverpool-Arsenal who are playing in the evening

Thanks Leicester!

If my arithmetic is correct; first and foremost win this weekend against Bournmouth, then have LFC and Arsenal draw and that would put us level on point with Arsenal. They would still be ahead of us on goals difference but I believe (hope) they will fold under the pressure.

Strongest team possible, rest everyone once the season is over.

we are at home right? hoping for a clinical win, but I know the players are tired. I just hope we nick a win, 2-0 would be fine. Regardless if it is ugly win or not, we just need the 3 points. I hope the other players would certainly step up. Especially if we are not starting with Zlatan. Shaw and Darmian should atleast get gametime and try to dislodge a Blind and Valencia fullback duo. We need each and every player to play at their best when called upon.

You would hope for a comfortable home win - Bournemouth can be dangerous but we should have enough to do them.

Come out fast and hard and get the job done and let some of our main guys have a rest

We need the three points from this game to apply the pressure on Liverpool and Arsenal so we will need to field the strongest lineup possible. We have played 21 game in all competitions since December, and there’s more to come. At a minimum we have:

04 Mar PL Bournemouth
09 Mar UEFA FC Rostov
13 Mar FA Cup Chelsea
16 Mar UEFA FC Rostov
19 Mar PL Middlesbrough
01 Apr PL West Brom Albion
04 Apr PL Everton
09 Apr PL Sunderland
16 Apr PL Chelsea
23 Apr PL Burnley
30 Apr PL Swansea City
06 May PL Arsenal
13 May PL Tottenham Hotspur
21 May PL Crystal Palace

Heaven only knows when we will have to play these games
TBC PL Manchester City
TBC PL Southampton

By any yardstick you want to use this has been one hell of a schedule and it really doesn’t look to be getting any easier anytime soon. We are going to have to take every chance we get to rest some of our player because for the last few game a number of them have looked very leg weary. I think Mourinho has been trying to win some of these games on the cheap, by that I mean doing just enough to win the games while expending as little energy as possible. I hope that Mourinho is as good at managing the squad as I believe he is and he gives the likes of Shaw, Fosu, Young, Rooney and even the academy youngsters some minutes.

Getting into the Champions League by either top four finish or the Europa cup needs to be our priority, my preference would be to gain entry into the ECL by winning the Europa cup and knock Liverpool into the Europa cup but as Liverpool don’t stand a chance of getting into the top four it’s just a fantasy.

Am I correct in my thinking that the winner of the Europa cup doesn’t need to qualify for the ECL like the forth place qualifiers would.

Apparently it depends on how well the previous ECL winners do in their League. If they do well enough to also qualify for the group stage through league placement then the Europa champions are awarded an automatic group place.
If however the previous ECL champions don't qualify for a group place through their league placement then they are given an automatic spot and the Europa winners are given a play off spot.
Also Barry, our winning the Europa wouldn't knock the 4th placed team out of contention, it would just mean that 5 EPL teams would qualify for the ECL next season.
Though I share do share your enjoyment at the thought of our knocking Liverpool down into a Europa spot

Looking at the fixtures - the next 5 are massive for us to put a stamp on the top 4

04 Mar PL Bournemouth (h)
19 Mar PL Middlesbrough (a)
01 Apr PL West Brom Albion (h)
04 Apr PL Everton (h)
09 Apr PL Sunderland (a)

These all need to be 3pts because coming down the stretch we all Arsenal, Spurs, City and Southampton all away from home - most of them will be most likely the last two weekends of the season - that's really tough

We are definitely challengers in the EL - the way the draw went - a couple of our rivals will be knocked out but im reluctant to put all our eggs in the EL basket - yes....its an opportunity to get into the CL but the league is our bread and butter - theres no reason why we cant finish as high as possible

Another potential banana skin. We need to make sure we are professional as possible and get this game to bed early on. 2-0 within 20 minutes would be a dream.

The back line was kinda like a WOW. It will be interesting to see how the front actually line up and play.

Interesting lineup, we do need rotation so that's a good call by Jose. except playing Rooney in #10 role is a waste of the most creative position

With Rooney and Mata playing behind Zlatan it is going to be crowded in the middle of the pitch.

Rojo - That just might have been the worst of the chances we have had. Football is a funny old game.
