As much as i'd love to see Manchester United win the Europa League this season to complete the full European 'set' think the FA Q-F v Chelsea is more important than this first-leg, and with that in mind i'd be tempted to rest the first-team and play the squad players, stink the place out if need be, a 1-0 loss, even 2-0 would be fine as Rostov don't travel well, and then hope to complete the job in the second-leg

Romero

TFM
Jones
Smalling
Blind

Fellaini
Schweinsteiger
Mata

Lingard
Rooney
Young

Under normal circumstances I love the FA Cup and believe it is something to go for every year; however this season I thnk getting into the Champions League next season needs to be the priority. The best routes for that are a top four finish and winning the Europa Cup.
Ramero
Valencia Jones Smalling Blind
Carick
Herrera Pogba
MickyT Zlatan Martial
Get a big enough lead so that the second leg is on cruise control.

This competition is becoming bigger by the week for us - a horrible fixture for us regarding travel etc but must bring the game back to OT at least level.

Zlatan will probably be banned for the next 3 domestic fixtures so he will probably start - Bailly is suspended I think. I think we will set out a strong team for this one

I'm confused Bailey didn't start vs Bournemouth if he is suspended for this tie??

Romero
Valencia Rojo Smalling Shaw
Fellaini Herrera
Rashford Rooney Martial
Ibrahimovic

Then to play Chelsea..

De Gea
Valencia Rojo Bailley Blind
Herrera Pogba
Lingard Mata Martial
Rashford

I'm taking into account zlatan will probably get a retrospective ban although if the ref didn't see it he shouldnt to the letter of the law. Also taking into account miki will miss both games although I'm not sure.
I'd start Rashford in both games, it would be better if he gets a bit more match sharpness before Chelsea so give him gametime. He shouldn't need much if any of a rest

Oh dear
It shows how far we have fallen when the argument is about which is more important
1 A Mickey mouse having a laugh cup
2 What should be a mouth watering.much anticipated cup tie against Chelsea

The truth is that, having taken the piss out of the scousers for years about "Thursday night, you've having a laugh" we are now trying to find ways to want to justify it being an important cup to win as it gets us into the Champions league

The truth is that not many United fans think we will beat Chelsea
There is always hope but having watched Chelsea many times they are vastly superior to United in all areas
Only last night they comfortably invited West ham on to them when they were winning and West Ham didn't have a cue how to break them down
Midfield was strong, accurate passing and totally shat on West Ham
Up front they broke on the counter attack like lightning
Fast wingers and a fast centre forward in Costa.I remember when we used to be like that and appreciated it
Bring me back Cole and Yorke. Please!!
Or even better Ronaldo

This is a shit Russian team, that even the Chinese don't want to buy playing in a shit tournament
Most of the top teams are now out and if you want to go into the Champions league this is the most realistic route
For me lose to Chelsea and this is all that is left as do any of you still think we are worthy of a top 4 spot

Finally why you lot want to get us into the qualifying rounds of the Champions league is beyond me
We are cannon fodder for the big boys
It will end up in tears and it will all be Jose's or Wazza's or Martial's fault
Really

Bailly is out and Rojo's cousin was shot dead in Argentina so Rojo's mental state is definitely not 100 %. Jones and Smalling are prone to mistakes so i'm not confident in our defence for this one.

This game should be priority for obvious CL spot reason so full strength team, Chelsea game on Monday we should rotate and play full strength on thursday again.

JOSE DISCUSSES UNITED TEAM FOR ROSTOV TIE

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has admitted "I don't know which team I'm going to play” against FC Rostov on Thursday due to the state of the pitch at the Olimp-2 stadium.

The United squad landed in Russia on Tuesday evening ahead of this week’s Europa League Round of 16 first-leg tie. The manager personally inspected the playing surface on Wednesday morning before holding his pre-match press conference, which he duly used to discuss his concern for the players’ safety.

"It’s still hard for me to believe that we are going to play tomorrow," the manager told reporters. "I know we have to but it’s hard for me to believe we are going to play on that field, if you can call it a field."

Responding to a question about Henrikh Mkhitaryan's possible involvement, Mourinho continued: "I don’t know which team to play, really. I don’t know which team I will play, I don’t know if Mkhitaryan is going to play. I have a lot to think because I was expecting something more playable.

"I didn’t have any contact with anyone until now; I just had a quick contact with one gentleman from UEFA when I was looking at the pitch. And when I told him about my concerns, the gentleman told me the plays are insured - if something happens, no problem."

Mourinho would also not comment on the confirmation that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will serve a three-match domestic ban for his role in an incident with Bournemouth’s Tyrone Mings during Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Old Trafford. However, the boss did confirm the Swede "plays tomorrow" against Rostov.

UNITED'S TRAVELLING SQUAD IN FULL

De Gea, Romero, O'Hara; Valencia, Jones, Rojo, Smalling, Blind, Darmian, Young; Carrick, Herrera, Fellaini, Pogba, Mata, Lingard, Mkhitaryan; Martial, Rashford, Ibrahimovic.

PSG started the game with a "We have such a big lead we cannot lose" attitude. They only started playing when the score got to 3 - 0 and got the away goal, after that they went back to just trying to run out the game.

Bunch of fornicate cheats and awful reffing but what a bottle job from PSG. Glad to see that snake di Maria stink it up like he has all season as well, completely bottled the chance to put the tie beyond doubt

Will our passing game be effective or do we put Fellaini up front and hit he long ball to negate the surface?

I can see the ball being in the air an awful lot here - Zlatan up front along with Fellaini - need good crossers though....maybe Young will get a start

With the state of the pitch and being a tough play to go- we will need to be scrappy and opportunistic.

I would go for :-

-----------------------DDG--------------------
Valencia------Rojo-----Smalling-----Blind
-------------Pogba--------Herrera
Young----------Fellaini---------Lingard
------------------Zlatan---------------------

Went for Fellaini as Jose might prefer the ball to be in the air tonight - Young and lingard with pace to support.

Cant see us picking MickyT tonight due to the pitch - also the likes of Martial wouldn't fancy it.

Yeah won't be surprised with a line-up like that. Don't think Mata or Micki will start
