Would it make you feel better if I told you I've trained kung-fu for 2/3 years? 8-)

was it Andy or Ned?
would that be Ned Kelly?

As I say I can't remember now, it was a long time ago. He was married to someone my Mum worked with, so whichever one had a wife in healthcare.

She probably knows where you all live, so i'd be scared, very scared.

Actually, she's probably spent that much time with body guards that she could snap your necks in an instant.

After she's rummaged through your dustbin and wiped off the cat food of your latest gas bill to read it of course.

Re: United Players you have met

I've just been told that Pat Crerands son has posted a photo of me and Pat on Pat's twitter account
Pat doesn't even know he has a twitter account and i don't know how to get on it.

Anyway moving forward with the topic
I have restricted myself to those players who know me well enough to shake my hand and have a beer

My last post was up to the 1968 European cup win so let's go from that point
First up is Carlo Sartori from the late 1960's.Does anybody remember his bright red hair?He is now totally bald.Became a knife grinder in the family business when he retired.I now meet him at the old farts dinners
Same for Alan Gowling. He joined Bolton when he left United and ended up a teacher.
Kiddo is from Harpurhey. He has stayed in the area and is now with the Berties. His nephew aka Kiddo goes to every United game and won't talk to his uncle Brian

Wee Lou Macari and Pat and I often go to the London games together
Lou gets on our train at Stoke where he now lives

From the late 1970's i know wee Arthur Albiston through MUTV.
We have a drink together on the overseas tours
Martin Buchan i met after he retired. He had a very good friend who had a car dealership and he used to bring Martin in Harpers restaurant in the centre of Manchester which was a "football bistro"
Gordon McQueen was part of the team which used to go out to a bar/bistro called Bavardage, again in Manchester
After they finished training in the mornings it was either the bookies or a coffee.
Quite a funny lad who unfortunately has had some severe problems with his health
Every time i see him he reminds me to "not tell Hayley" about the good old days
Ashley Grimes and Scott McGarvey were part of that same team
They shared a flat
Ashley now does radio and Scott is an agent
I met Brian and Jimmy Greenhoff after they retired
Unfortunately they fell out badly and stayed apart even up to Brian's death last year
Brian ended up running a snooker hall in Piccadilly
Jimmy went into insurance but his partner nicked the money so now he does match day hospitality.
A very shy and likeable man

Into the early 1980's
I met Kevin Moran through a friend of mine who used to look after some of the players cars.I wouldn't call him a strong friend but we know each other well enough to shake hands
Mickey Thomas is still around. He does radio and TV.He likes roulette but unfortunately it doesn't like him.A great character

From the mid 80's we have Clayton Blackmore and Lee Martin
I got to know both after they retired from the after dinner circuit
Billy Garton and i became friends when he became ill and i was part of the committee that organised his testimonial. He now lives in the USA and is very successful

John Gidman is a complete fruitcake and trades in anything you care to name
I have not seen him for a few years but i believe he is back in Liverpool
Paul McGrath and Norman Whiteseide and Robbo and i used to meet every Saturday night at a club in Bury called Benny's
Great crack with that lot plus Peter Reid(Everton),Jiffy Jeff Chandler(Blackpool),Sam Allardyce(Bolton),Terry McDermott(Liverpool),Barney Kennedy(Liverpool),Kevin Keegan(Liverpool) plus snooker players Hurrican Higgins,Tony Knowles and John Spencer
The stories i could tell would take a liftetime

Sparky Hughes and David Beckham used to lodge with my friends the Kay family when they were kids
