Premier League discussion thread 17/18

Wed Jun 28, 2017 8:05 pm

So the fixtures are out, transfers rumours are flying around as ever and hopes spring eternal as no one's kicked a ball yet!

So what lies ahead for United and the other 19 PL teams this season?

Here's where to discuss it all....

Well, we'll win the league obviously, and the other 19 will finish behind us.

Exciting game, loads of goals, good attacking side with seriously dire defences.

Arsenal win with after an Ozil handball.

For what its worth Leicester played into Arsenals hand by going more defensive while Arsenal substituted attacking players. Arsenal's three man back line was woeful.

Watford 3 Liverpool3

So that's 13 goals in the 1st 2 PL games.. at this rate we would be seeing:

65 goals a gameweek

2470 goals a season

so an average of more than 120 goals for and against for each team!

The first two days of the Prem were 'Reasons to be Cheerful' if you are a United fan, with considerable to glaring weaknesses plain to see in our main opponents, with only Spurs still to run the rule over.

Arsenal and Liverpool - awful defensively.

Chelsea - ill disciplined, with Fabregas now an old prat instead of a young one.

City - looked the strongest, but Pep is not as tactically flexible as Jose, and it is not clear that Barcelona light will work in the Prem.

I might watch the Spurs game, but I don't want to be footballed out before the main event!

I think that most of Chelsea's team could get a flight in an empty room.

Boring first half with Spurs not being able to get past Newcastle, who perhaps had the best half chances..

Kyle Walker-Peters looks like a good young player in at RB though, and they don't seem to be missing Kyle Walker.

Newcastle with two injuries to defenders in the first half, which limits Rafa's ability to make substitutions in the 2nd.

Brainiac Jon-jo deliberately steps on Delli Ali's ankle right in front of the ref and gets a red.

Erikson to Ali who scores.

I think we will finish above Newcastle this season, even after Shelvey gets back on the pitch.
