I din't realize he's 29. though . He probably has a couple of good seasons ahead of him and then will become a totally different player. He relies on his speed a lot.
As someone else mentioned earlier. It's a "good thing" that Chile are not in the world cup. He'll get a nice and long rest.

It really is a big (marquee) signing. One of the best prem players over the last few years

Second to Kane in terms of goal involvement last season - we getting him off his best year. Reminiscent of RVP

Not sure why this is still in the transfer section - anyway, these cheesy welcome videos they make at United these days are downright embarrassing. Not sure who they think appreciates them ... well, some people apparently. Some bloke on twitter said it made the hairs on his skin stand on end!

Eh???

I love the vids. Just amplifies the excitement of getting such a big player, stirs the emotions...gets the belief going again

Yes, the perfromance on the pitch is what ultimately counts, but their is a certain magic that comes with bringing in new players (that stirs in all of us) and their is nothing wrong with enjoying that part of supporting this great club`
The point is, it’s more than just an announcement, it’s an extravagant culmination, nay, celebration, of a transfer, and in the ever-inflating transfer market, social media teams deserve to put some panache into the announcement videos given the incredulous fees spent.

lol... @dbecks07, This is not Hollywood though, it's football. If you must do a video, I would have thought it more apt to create a montage of his goals or skills, interspersed with clips of his ACTUAL signing and greeting staff. Not this scripted, commercialised pile of cheese. Especially considering that what happens next is definitely not scripted, and can go either way.

Anyways, different strokes for different folks, I guess :)

Hehe..

Maybe..but selling shirts is part of the clubs revenue stream..needs to be there if we are to make money and spend on players and then win trophies and then the cycle continues

Yes yes...lol, I may be more Hollywood then some but like you say (different strokes). After that whole saga around the transfer and the relief that City didnt get him and we (out of nowhere) got him..the vid just released all that angst and it was emotional to finally see him in a United shirt - I thouroughly enjoyed it and amped the level of excitement in terms of seeing him play

This is the age of Social media - we embrace it or end up blasting it...either way, its here to stay and the big entities know this and know they have to use it to keep up

I agree with you partly because it's a generational thing. I believe hype sells more than substance these days.
But this player needs no selling, skill or goal-wise. He's been observed to thrive in the league and as such if you do think about it, if we were to show his montage, it would be in an Arsenal shirt, mostly.
Like dbecks... I enjoyed the video which to my mind was designed to generate fanfare, lift the mood, create hope that glory will be returning to Manutd and associating that with the #7 wearer.

Lastly, his impact or influence is for another day and should not dull the celebration meeting his signing, it's another way football gives us joy by allowing us to dream of things that hopefully are yet to come. Join us....

Neither do I. All we needed in the transfer window is a right winger/forward and another central midfielder to bring balance to our team. We only managed to do completely the opposite. Sanchez will lead to the benching and eventual departure of Martial while bringing marginal upside. Does not track back or maintain defensive shape while being careless with the ball. Worse of all, he actually plays as a left midfielder who likes to hover up the ball and dictate play thus rendering Pogba completely pointless. WTF is Mourinho trying to achieve with this boneheaded transfer?

On the surface it appears that Sanchez has all the attributes to make United a better team. However, in reality his joining the squad has caused much more of an upset than any benefit he has brought. We where already over weighted on the left side and trying to shoe-horn him into the side is causing us to play more and more player out of position. Maybe by the start of next season Mourinho will be able to integrate him into the team, I hope it not at the expense of Martial, and this transfer will end up looking golden.

I have to wonder if the Sanchez transfer was influenced by; being able to unload MickyT and keeping Sanchez off City's books.

Wow... Nice to know folks actually have their eyes open and see the impact to the whole (considering it's a team game!!) rather than just the individual.

Sanchez is a brilliant player - even a brilliant team player, but for me it's the way José tries to play him that I see issues with - our left side attack has worked for us most of the season. Trying to force Sanchez in there moves too many of our top attacking players out of position and role. The balance of the team has been lost for a few games, and against Chelsea and against Sevilla, it's a pity that we looked better when Sanchez was either not on the field, or at least, not occupying that wide left area.

Also, someone better tell him to track back. Love his pressing from the front, but once that line is broken, he offers little help. Tbh I really feel if he's played on the right (he has done in the past), and is allowed to drift in from there, he could be devastating and we will be better for it.

There was a related discussion about the effect of his arrival on the team balance here:

I was never too excited about signing Sanchez because I figure it was another case of us buying a player because we can, not because they are filling a role we need or look like they will fit into the team.

That's it. This United team has finally broken my spirit. I give up on football until our management grows a f#####g brain.

I like Sanhez, but things are not working out so far. He used to shine at Arsenal. Here he struggles to make an impact. He's trying hard, but something is missing.
