The Zlatan

Mon Apr 11, 2016 10:34 pm

Is he really what we need? Could be the mercurial Cantona we need to bring this shower together and actually start playing well? Or is he a risk of discontent and an unnecessary primadonna?

I think a great player is always worth the risk.

On the assumption that Van Gaal is long gone then a player with Zlattan's skills, personality and drive when used correctly could be massive for just about any club. I think that with his ego he would have to be handled correctly, but any manager with halfway decent man-management skills should be able to get the best out of him for 1 (maybe 2) years. That wouldn't be a bad thing at the moment.

However if Van Gaal doesn't leave then getting Zlatan would be a jokes and LVG would play him as a central defender.

This is the thing. As long as the mad philosopher is in charge even if we bring Messi and Ronaldo it won't make much of a difference, if they comply with his crap.

I think that any established world class player wold have second thoughts about playing for United if we are still managed by Van Gaal, he just doesn't know how to get the best from players. The only reason I can see an established talent signing for Van Gaal would be money and that would make us another club of mercenaries just like City and Chelsea but without good football knowledge running thinhs.

For me it's a concern that the inmates running this asylum will keep Van Gaal around for his final season just to save a few pound on a severance package. Another season with Van Gaal would put us so deep in a hole that it would take years and years to dig ourselves out of.

I would love for this to happen...........his presence on the pitch alone will bring that fear back to our line up.

He is a character and if he decides to play he can become a real asset, if he doesn't fancy it.......then it could become a little bit of a circus but he is really worth a punt

We miss a few players that have that arrogance, yeah there will be times where we get frustrated with him but he will have moments of brilliance which we will love from him

I guess if you're only going to get one shot a game, why not have Zlatan on the end of it?

Should shift a few shirts at least.

Only concern is if he comes in, will he hurt Rashford's development?

I don't think Zlatan would hurt Rashford's development, on the contrary I think it could help him. Zlatan has something of a little bit of anego, who am I trying to kid he has a massive ego, but a forward/striker needs to have that type of confidence, to believe that they can get passed a defender or get to a cross and it would be goo for Rashfords (and others) to see that type of brashness. Zlatan is technically very good at what he does and any young player could learn a lot from him. Zlatan's minutes will have to be managed carefully and that means that Rashford should get lots of opportunity to play.

That makes sense. I was just trying to say that Rashford needs to stay on the pitch because that's how he'll get better. Zlatan certainly could teach him a thing or two but the best teacher is experience, which Rashford needs. Is there any chance of using a two striker system where they're out there together?

Jose generally doesn't, but I can certainly see a Martial-Zlatan-Rashford forward line.
