Regardless of the stats I don't think our defense has been good this season. They have benefitted from the possession game that we have played but just about any time we have needed to stop a team they have come up short.

You're right, I've no idea why not many people see this. The defensive record is good for two reasons. Needless possession between the back 4 (or 5 with De Gea) and De Gea.

A lot of talk that Lukaku's father has mooted a move to Old Trafford for his son - 65m

Thoughts? he still only 23

I kinda like the look of a Zlatan, Lukaku and Rashford forward trio.

With that front three where does Martial play?

Apologies - I meant those three to be our rotating striker options- all capable of leading the line

Martial is so effective coming in from the left - I would keep him there

Personally I am not sure about Lukaku; IMO he is a moody player and when the team is going right he's all chuckles and grins, however when his goal dry up he tends to sulk around the pitch. At 23 yr old and as long as he has been around the premier I would have expected a little more leadership.

For a year (or two) I think Zlatan would be ideal for us, a great footballing talent and as arrogant as the day is long, something sadly missing from United since Sir Alex left. The younger player could learn so much from his, the only issue I see is that I think he would be totally wasted under Van Gall's coaching.

Agree about Zlatan. He would be excellent for Rashford and Martial.

65m is far too much for Lukaka - he's had a decent half season with Everton but has he gone from 28m to 65m in 24 months? doubtful

If we are willing to spend that amount of money on a striker - Aubameyang, Morata, Greizman etc would be better options

I doubt Zlatan would even come if LVG is here

One player that's always impressed me and goes under the radar a lot is Marco Reus - Dortmund have fallen foul of losing their big players to Bayern.

I think he would be cracker for us on the right side - we are talking 50 odd million for him - go for it

You constantly hear the same players being mooted to teams........Greizmann, Koke, Gundogan etc but I rarely hear teams making a move for Reus - I maybe be totally wrong in that aspect.

For me.....he would be a fantastic pick up if we got me

I've heard that Mata and Blind should be gone. Mata comes as no surprise and Blind is someone that isn't irreplaceable. I could see us spending big on John Stones. He's likely the best option at center back next to Smalling that's on the market. Bring him in, then Saul Niguez to put next to Schneidlin and Zlatan it seems like it would be a good haul for me, and we wouldn't have to entirely break the bank for any one of them.

Actually recovering. It's his third major tournament in a row he'd miss through injury. Sad for the guy...

Obertan... Bebe... Macheda... A whole bunch of top dogs waiting in the wings.

Pity though we released Powell and Valdes today. But hope dies last. Who knows, maybe we will resign them next year.

Oh, Valdes finally got out of jail... Good for him.. The dutch psycho really made a mess out of this awkward situation. Glad it is finally over.

Nick Powell was one of those cheap Fergie signings of upcoming young talents that never lived up to their alleged potential. Injuries didn't help either I guess.

Hopefully he finds a club at the right level.

Good Luck to them both.
