I believe that all player contracts in La Liga are required to have release clauses, so this is just Madrid's way of saying "don't call us we'll call you".
but isn't 1 billion too much for Benzema's age? Besides, he's too injury prone.ArizonaRed wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2017 11:29 pmI believe that all player contracts in La Liga are required to have release clauses, so this is just Madrid's way of saying "don't call us we'll call you".
I don't think he did try and force a move. Real bid for him, and we accepted it. That's down the the club, not the player.Short Back and Sides wrote: ↑Fri Sep 08, 2017 9:49 amThis thread has gone under the radar but it's an interesting topic.
Incidentally no one complains about De Gea wanting away and it still crops up now and then that he still wants away. Didn't he try and force a move away a couple of years back only for us to 'fornicate up' a last minute document
I think you are right that all La Liga contract by law have to have a release clause, that's why we see some of the billion € amounts batted around. But matching a release clause doesn't guarantee that a club gets the player, think of Griezmann last summer, nor that a smaller bid than the release clause wouldn't get a player if all parties are in agreement. It's just a negotiation tool used by the clubs and player, a starting point.
