TV thread

Mon Oct 13, 2014 8:01 pm

There used to be one but I can't find it.

I want recommendations, I have just finished Breaking Bad and feel a bit empty inside. I am also on season 3 of Boardwalk Empire which I'm enjoying.

What's everyone else watching? Any recommendations?

Sam and I are on the second series of an Australian gangland series called Underbelly. The show details true events of organised crime in Australia, with each series focusing on a different tale, in a different era with an entirely different set of characters.

The first series told the story of the Melbourne gangland wars 1995-2004, whilst the second, which we've only just begun, details the rise of the heroin trade in the late 1970's.

It's a top quality show which does everything just right for my tastes; violence, realism, humour, great characters being well acted — it's brilliant.

Best one is Razor, think it's season 4.

I just read that C4's Utopia has been cancelled after two seasons. Gutted as that was a brilliant show.

I'm still unsure about this show, because it seems like half the characters are in this gritty cop drama and the other half in a campy comic book.

Utopia in the US started about a month ago and I am loving it, but apparently I am alone because it is already cut down to once a week from two times and all the rumors say it probably won't last much longer.

FAO: Peas

If you like Broadwalk Empire check Peaky Blinders. Series 1 was last year and Series 2 is currently being aired. Episode 3 this Thursday.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peaky_Blinders_(TV_series" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

Rave reviews everywhere. I enjoyed the first series a lot, but my opinion means nothing sadly, as I don't watch any telly series' like this so can't compare it to anything.

EDIT - Also if you need any of the episodes I've got them all on my hard drive, series 2 first two episodes should still be on iPlayer. PM if you need anything anyways.

HBO are redoing it, so it will probably get a lot more episodes there.

Yes, but you won't get any more from C4. You will from HBO.

@martin thanks pal I'll check it out. What do you watch then? Documentaries?

Just remembered I have season 2 of homeland to watch as well. Some birth canal has already ruined the ending for me but I shall watch it anyway. First one was really good

That's basically it.

Ross Kemp (pretty much all of his work, he is excellent)
Louis Theroux
Les Stroud
Ray Mears
Dual Survival (most survival based series actually)
Serial killer documentaries
WW2 documentaries

Few other things like Alan Partridge but yeah, mostly documentaries about crime, gangs and survival.

Id like to watch more Louis Theroux. Do you stream or download? I always want to watch more documentaries but never feel there's enough time

Anyone watch cooking shows. Me and the missus always watch chopped, it's entertaining and cool to see people make stuff from random ingredients.

I got halfway through S02 before giving up completely due to it being absolute horseshit.

I've never known a show have two more annoying leads as Homeland; Clare Danes and Damian Lewis are each as irritating as a hedgehog up the arse and the entire show is completely devoid of any humour whatsoever. If the terrible acting isn't bad enough, the story gets more stupid and predicable with each passing episode. Nothing satisfactory ever happens as the main characters consistently refuse —against all odds due to their stupid and obvious behaviour— to be shot in the face by a member of the Secret Service; the latter being made up of members seeming to have been specially selected for the role due to their aspects of extreme gullibility in accordance to the dumb, neo-terrorist fantasy world designed by the incompetent writers of Homeland.

I do both mate. Most of Louis Theroux's stuff is easy to find on the internet to stream. Some is on Youtube. Downloading is easy as well.

ukbay.org

Gives you a new proxy with every click. You need a torrent program e.g. uTorrent but everything is on there.

Ross Kemp in Afghanistan
Ross Kemp Return to Afghanistan
Ross Kemp on Gangs
Ross Kemp Extreme World (all three series)

As good as, if not better than, all of Theroux's stuff for that hard hitting style. Did you see he had a gun pulled out on him in Papau New Guinea?

Best Louis Theroux for me is the Miami Megajail and Law and Disorder but anything he makes is an automatic watch.
