David Bowie

Mon Jan 11, 2016 9:49 am

Has passed away after an 18 month battle with cancer. Recently Visconti said he was in fine health so he obviously wanted to keep this a secret. He just dropped his latest album last week and listening to it again after the news it makes so much more sense now.

This is his last video, released three days ago.

Devastated tbh. What a genius. Greatest ever. RIP.

I know fornicate all about music but realised how much of his stuff I recognise now. He'll always be dear to me for his cameo in Zoolander.

Absolutely devastated.

A great hero of my childhood. A total one-off. Pushed boundaries, provoked thoughts. Genius!

RIP Davey Jones :(

Has anybody listened to Blackstar then? I pre ordered it so I could get the MP3 at midnight when it came out, I listened to it all weekend and thought it was good, but with what's happened it's taken on a new meaning and it's easily one of the best in his career imo. Tony Visconti confirmed everything from the timing to the content was intentional and it's a parting gift for his fans.

This guy actually turned his own death into art ffs. It's so typical of him, released one of the strongest albums of his career at an age where most rockstars have fallen off badly and pretty much spells it out for us that he's dying, yet nobody notices, then quietly leaves us. I even saw one article saying the album was filled with death and yet nobody actually suspected he was dying. A brilliant way to end his career and the way he did it will just solidify his iconography (as if he needed that). He surprised us one last time.

Amazing right until the very end.
