Other sports

Thu Jul 19, 2018 10:33 am

What other sports are you guys into?

I'm a big cycling fan and with Dutch football on a pathetic low we have many good cyclists (both men / women) to be proud of. Anyone following the Tourde France right now?
Tom Dumoulin vs Chris Froome vs Geraint Thomas vs a bunch of other good riders. I hope Dumoulin is able to overtake Sky teams dominance but that will be very difficult.

I also follow Formula 1, speed skating (on ice, in winter) and basically every olympic sport when that time arrives

Nothing to the level of football, but I've started watching F1 a bit more recently. I stopped watching when they dropped refuelling, and I still say it would be better with it.

I loosely follow cricket and tennis, but I don't watch religiously.

I follow the NFL from the fringes, mainly because most of my friends follow and it keeps the conversation going. The NBA & NHL I will watch when the playoff start but the regular season is just too long. I did play Ice Hockey up to mu mid fifties, then the joints started to hurt too bad after a game. The same goes for cross country snow machining. Baseball I can go to a game now and again but watching it on television is just too tedious. Same goes for Golf.

I can't believe it. I can't believe it. Football. Bloody hell.

I'd rather watch netball than American sports.

Rugby League, rugby union. I follow both of these just as much as football tbh. All 3 sports take up a lot of my time

Grew up playing Rugby League until I went in the Navy, today I prefer to watch Rugby Union.

A novice question to all rugby fans. What is the easiest way for a spectator to figure out which code is being played without paying attention to team names and squad sizes?

The only other sport I ever watch is baseball. I go seasons where I get right into it, and others where I barely pay attention. At 182 games a season it's quite a commitment, so it depends on how busy I am whether or not I get into it in any given year. No matter what I try to go to a few games each year. I live near Toronto so I will go to a couple there, but the stadium sucks and Toronto fans are obnoxious, so I usually try to go to a Detroit Tigers game if I can. A real ballpark and good fan. Nothing beats sitting at a sunny game with some buddies drinking cold beers.

If when a player is tackled the opposition back off and allow him to play the ball backwards with his foot then you're watching league. If when a players is tackled it seems like the opposition 'pile on' then it's union

Cricket, Tennis (off and on) and MMA.

....and Pro Wrestling, but people tend not to count that as a sport.

I like MMA although I have to be in the mood for it. I like watching the obscure ones rather than the massively popular ones

People would be correct. How could you, when the outcome is usually predetermined. Surely even flipping a coin is more competitive....

Watch NFL and cricket religiously. Played cricket at a high level as well but a football injury ended my sporting career. I watch just about eveyr cricket game I can, I fornicate love it. Same with NFL - not quite sure what I'm going to do on Mondays now that I work full time :(

Absolutely hate NBA and Baseball - don't understand how anyone can watch baseball

Australian football is a great game and I just about go every weekend

Sadly no longer have time for rugby - it seemed to die the minute I got to Melbourne

Not disputing that at all. It's very much entertainment with an athletic component, rather than a competitive sport. The athletic component can be quite impressive though - which is what I enjoy.

I used to follow it quite religiously a few years ago - don't have the time anymore. Now I tend to only watch big name fights, or replays of great fights. Can't really watch a whole card anymore.

I really have to be in the mood to watch any of it really. I hate how it's become popular though. I hate that so many have become experts at it. That and boxing. Just piss off
