“Bill, how would you like to be manager of the best team in the country?”
And Shankly said: “Why? Is Matt Busby packing it in?”

Bryan Robson was my idol as a kid. I love Mark Hughes but he disappeared of the radar with Barca for a while. Captain Marvel was a mainstay, I was so pleased to see him lift a premiership title. It was a fitting reward for one of the best players to ever pull on the shirt. He was the prototype box to box midfielder. It's just a shame he didn't have age on his side to play longer in the Fergie years. One of United's best ever signings.

He held the record for the fastest goal ever in the World Cup for a long time. Here is that goal:

I was at that match and remember that moment like it was yesterday! You'd never see a major signing be brought out on the pitch to sign his contract on a little trestle table like that nowadays!

That game is in my Top 10 all time United games. Mianly because it was at Maine Rd, it was against the all conquering scousers, and we came from behind and the atmosphere was electric! Amazing.

I enjoyed the games far more back then even though we won less...
