Other than what I can pick up from a quick google search I don't know much about Celta Vigo, they appear firmly planted in the middle of La Liga. Not close to challenging but also not close to relegation.

What a state we have come to; I am happy that Fellaini is available and rested. Hopefully we can get a good result on the road and make the home leg a little less of a nail biter. It gotten to the point where whoever is available determines the formation.
Romeo
Valencia Darmian Blind Young
Fellaini
Herrara Pogba
Lingard Rashford Martial

It is going to be a real balancing act between this game and the Arsenal game at the weekend. It would be great if Tuanzebe could get some minutes and maybe give Blind or Valencia a break (I mean a rest and not a bone). Has anyone seem an update on Bailly or Shaw or ...

Celta Vigo have lost their last 3 Spanish league games. Saying that we are having problems of our own & the football on show is not exactly electric! I still think we'll come out good & that we are good enough to see it through. The Premiership IMO is going to go the wire in the sense the competing 3 are just as bad as each other even though Liverpool won tonight. Jose has not done anything wrong it's the players who are not performing to their highest ability. I have complete faith we'll turn our season around because lets face it's now or never.

The players need to give everything for this competiton considering they just missed two chances to overtake city and liverpool.

No idea how we are going to set up at the back - the thought of Darmian playing CB is giving me nightmares - the only option is to play a youngster who is in fact a CB - give them a go - throwing them into the deep end but they will thrive.

Hopefully Pogba is ready to return aswell.

Maybe see lingard instead fro Martial

How do you know "they will thrive"
Any youngster coming into this first team has come from a United reserve team that has taken dicking after dicking this season to the point where frighteningly the reserve team nearly got relegated.Their confidence must be low

Two examples you might want to consider are as follows
Manchester United v York City
League cup first leg at Old Trafford
Sir Alex Ferguson used this game to play a lot of young reserves who he hoped would thrive
United were 3 nil down after 50 minutes
Some of these boys like Beckham did go on to the very top but this was not a game,in hindsight, to chuck the kids in
At the end of the game some wag next to me commented !What's that on the pitch?I can't make it out!!"
"Oh yes. It's 11 piles of shit. They've all shit themselves!!"

The second one you won't remember
Manchester United v Sheffield Wednesday-FA Cup 1960/61
United had an injury to the goalkeeper
One option was to get coach Jack Crompton to play.Although he was old he was still registered as a player and could have played.
The second option was to play a young kid Ronnie Briggs in the hope that "he would thrive"
United lost 7-2 at home
The lad played OK when he stopped shaking
It's a massive ask to play in front of such a crowd in such an important game

Carrick is available right? Him in CB is better than the youngster.

How do you know they wont thrive? 'if they are good enough they are old enough ' or 'you wont win anything with kids' ring any bells?

As for Carrick - he's played there before and I he'll probably start but without the pace we will have to sit really deep......id rather see a CB play as a CB than a CM as a CB

I don't know they won't thrive any more than you can be sure they will thrive
The point i was making is a European semi final is one hell of a game to find out

Of course i remember "you won't win anything with kids"
Now when was that??
Oh yes just after they got a dicking at West Brom!!
they did thrive eventually and very well but if we get a dicking at Vigo tomorrow it is no good them thriving next season in the Thursday night having a laugh league playing another 60 games a season

"If they are good enough they are old enough" was a phrase used by the late great Jimmy Murphy for the Busby Babes in general and George Best in particular
Please do not suggest there is anything of that quality in this current, almost relegated bunch of kids
If there is however you will soon find out about them as The Glazers will sell them

Read an article which spoke about those losses. Apparently Celta played what was basically a B team in all of those matches with the intent of having a well rested first team for the semi's.
Also of interest in the article were the facts that although Barcelona destroyed them at Camp Nou in La Liga, Celta beat them in their home game and that Celta knocked Real out of the Copa in the quarter finals over 2 legs.

All of that kind of hints at the fact that mid table in La Liga or not, unless we put out our best available team and take this match very seriously ,we just might be in for some grief.

I am not sure what you are saying

I am 100% sure that Jose will put out his what he considers his best team
That same statement will go for the second leg as well

I am 100% sure that Celta Vigo are a mid table team only and on a par with say West Brom and Stoke
West Brom and Stoke will always win a certain percentage of games against,on paper, better opposition however a so called top team will win a higher percentage
Cup ties are different though aren't they
One mistake and/or one poor refereeing decision etc etc and you have a result similar to the ones you mention

I am 100% sure that if we don't give our all we might not win
But you can say that for any game
Over two ties you have room for error but hope you don't need it

The acid test is
"If Real Madrid or Chelsea were playing Celta Vigo over two rounds in a Champions League preliminary match would you give the game a second glance and would you have the slightest doubt about who you would expect to win?"
Now we claim to be trying to get to that level.I doubt we are but that's a different issue, and as such should swallow this lot whole
The importance of it being a semi final should work in our favour as we have been in many European semi finals

I expect Jose to probably park the bus,yet again,as he always seems to play a different way to
"Jose's playing the way that United should,oh yea"
He will want to hit them on the break so the speed out of defence will be critical
Mikki plays well in Europe so i expect him in the team and a key player
Fellaini will be a big asset in the air and as such the possible deficiences in numbers in defence should not, imo,be an issue

i dissagree on them being on West Brom or Stoke level. The level of PL has dropped in recent years while La Liga teams are always fighting for top spots in CL or Europa legaue. I would put them on Everton level.
Nevertheless a club of our size should beat them over 2 leg almost comfortably

You can disagree all you want but if you take a look at the facts they speak for themselves

The Premier League has been dominated by Chelsea and Spurs
Liverpool are in third but not challenged for the league at all
They along with City,Arsenal and United are working out which two go in the champions league as fodder and which two go in the having a laugh league
Apart from Everton,in 7th who are 8 games back everybody else below ie West Brom,Southampton,Bournemouth,Leicester,Stoke,Watford are 8th to 13th in the league and are 14 games back and have won 12 games each in this season

The La Liga has been fought out by Real Madrid and Barcelona
Athletico Madrid are like Liverpool ie in3rd but not challenged for the league at all
They along with Seville,Bilbao and Villareal are fighting out the champions league fodder places or the having a laugh league
Everybody else in that league are shit or worse having won about 12 games each
Notice the similarity?
So where are Celta Vigo?
They are 11th and behind the mighty Eibar(who?) and Alaves(who?)

So go back and check who is in this position in the Premier League.
the answer is Stoke and Watford which means i have overestimated Vigo when i say they are West Brom level
They are worse!!!

The Premier League has not deteriorated at all
It is a more competative league than La Liga
The difference is that in La Liga the two main teams ie Madrid and Barcelona have stretched away as they have concentrated on building a club and not a business to be proud of
Can you ever see the Madrid board going to the fans and trying to explain why are 5th or worse for 3 consecutive years but are proud to announce a new noodle sponsor to compensate for it
There would be white hankies everywhere and a possible lynching

You do amuse me when you say a "club of our size"
what size is that then?
A constant never in it team for the last 5 years full of piss wind and promises for the future
You can try to build this game up all you want and get as excited as you want but the reality is that if we were playing Watford who are Vigo's level over two legs it should be a piece of piss
It would be for Madrid,Barca,Bayern,Chelsea
So how big are we??

LaLiga is a better league and the proof is spanish teams results in Europe. Atletico is in sem-final or final of the CL everytime in recent years. Sevilla won the Europa league like 5 times in a row. We all know how english tams did in Europe. 2nd best team in England Spurs got knocked out by poor Anderlecht, and we needed extra-time to get thru.

technical abilities of average PL players are way lower than in Spain

Would Watford or Stoke ever get to Europa league semi final ? i highly doubt

i'm not trying to hype them up because the are an average team that we should beat but they are not like Watford, Stoke

Tell me again about how good La Liga is

I overestimated Vigo when i said they were Stoke or West Brom level
They are probably closer to Hull's standard

An absolute shit game and this tie should be well over
They have nothing
They had one shot on target all night and that was a deflected shot
They have no chance of scoring two goals at Old Trafford and that's even if we don't score

The last of the 4 semi finals and they saved the worst for last

This Manchester United team will get a serious mauling in the Champions League
It's a good job they are going to spend hundreds of millions

Even Joze Ruis couldn't get excited for this one
