I'd want to get the job done in the first half then get a few players off the pitch around the 60 min mark. Definitely get Matic off

With two potential tricky away european games after this fixture, this is a must win game.. I predict Blind to come in at LB, smalling and lindelof centre.

pogba and matic, mata,micki,martial, lukaku

We should beat them comfortably, expecting a 2-0 victory.

Need to set our stall out early - we should have too much for Basel over the 90mins.

You'd imagine the atmosphere will be electric - quick start and finish them off.

Lukuku to get a brace

Get out in front early and give Valencia a bit of a break, if Shaw doesn't start I hope he gets some extended minutes Not heard if Fellaini is available but if he is It would not surrise men to see him start.
Degea
Valencia. Smalling. Lindelof. Shaw
Carrick
Herrera Pogba
MickyT. Lukaku. Martial

I think it could well be this line-up.

He will freshen thingsup a bit (+ the enforced changes)

Could give Carrick a start & Matic a break - also wondering if he might start Romero too, as it's trendy now to have a "league" keeper and a "cup" keeper?

I live in Switzerland, so nothing less than a convincing win will do!

I am still traumatized from the embarrassment of actually losing to these lot and failing to qualify for the knock-out stages in 2011.

Pogba injured. Fellaini came on and I was thinking. "The most expensive United player is off and the most talentless is on", next thing you know the bog brush scores.
Hopefully we get at least one more to calm things down.

He did well at the start of last season too. Hopefully he'll maintain that this season.

A well deserved victory and a mostly very professional performance.

Nice to see that even though we had the set-back of the Pogba injury, we were not knocked out of our stride.

Amazing display from Fellaini, not my favourite player by a long way, but you can't complain about a goal and an assist.

Lindelöf and Smalling looked good too, not the sternest test, but still they came through comfortably.

Fairly comfortable and professional performance - once we got the breakthrough, there was only going to be one winner.

Jose unhappy with the team once we went 2 up - we did get loosy goosy for about half an hour.

Fellaini came on and did a great job for us. Ashley 'the forgotten man' Young was great at RB.....its really strange seeing decent crosses being put into the box. Can we somehow merge Young and Valencia?

All in all I good start to the group - hopefully Pogba isn't out for too long - bring on Everton

Young gives you a solid 7.5/10 performance from a guy with only 6/10 talent.
And 10/10 effort. Love the guy and I would "again" shout for him to start at LB with Val at RB

So Rashford scores in all his competitive debut's - anyone else can boast that?

Matic makes the difference again - not only with Pogba but with Fellaini as well

Players like Young and Darmian get harsh criticism from fans, they are squad players that can do a job. Young played really well, and I'm glad he got the captaincy ahead of Smalling.

3 points, 3 goals and cleansheet. Job done.. move on.

Pogba seems to be out for few weeks atleast.

Looked like a pulled hamstring. If it is then it's a minimum of 2 weeks.

A job well done but the injury to Pogba a blow.He is having a scan to see what the damage is but seeing him hobble out of the ground on crutches didn't look good.

I can't help feeling there is still something missing in us but not really sure what it is.I just wish we had got Perisic who is absolute class or failing that the likes of Julian Draxler on the wings.
January maybe. :P
