Smalling signs 3 year extension

Sat Dec 15, 2018 8:25 pm

It's fefinately time for Jose to go

Smalling has signed a 3 year extension to his contract to 2022
Clearly Jose is happy with him
After all it wouldn't be Woodward and the Glazers trying to save £60m on a world class centre half would it?
No it couldn't be!!Could it!!

Well that saves Jose giving Ed Woodward 5 names in the next transfer window

The top European clubs must be pissing themselves at the circus act managing this club

And Ashley Young provided it is a one year contract and he is prepared to take a bit less than he is on now

Good job you know it's what Jose wants as opposed to cheap options for the Glazers
After all they have invested zillions of their own money cough cough

Smalling staying is fine as a back up, but you have to ship Phil Jones off and bring in someone as a guaranteed starter.

i don't see Smalling being touted as a back up
A 3 year contract seems to suggest that he is the preferred long term option for Woodward
3 years at £100k a week for the next 4 years is cheaper than signing a quality centre half for £75m like Virgil van Dyke and paying him £200k a week
