David de Gea has signed a new contract at Manchester United until 2023, which includes an option for a further year.

De Gea, the 28-year-old goalkeeper who joined United from Atletico Madrid in 2011, has won the Premier League, the FA Cup, the League Cup and Europa League since moving to Old Trafford.

The deal - which will see the Spain international earn between £350,000 and £375,000 per week - makes De Gea the world's highest-paid goalkeeper, Sky Sports News understands.

"It has been a privilege to spend eight years at this great club and the opportunity to continue my career at Manchester United is a genuine honour," said De Gea.

"Since I arrived here, I could never have imagined I would play over 350 games for this club. Now my future is fixed, all I want is to help this team achieve what I believe we can and win trophies again, together.

"I am committed to continue repaying the fans for all of the care that they've shown me during the good times and the bad."

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer added: "I am delighted that David has committed his long-term future to the club. Over recent years, David has proved himself to be the best in the world and a vital part of our plans as we look to take Manchester United back to where it belongs.

"David is a fantastic person and his outstanding quality provides the perfect base to our defence.

"Over his time here, David has really understood the values of playing for Manchester United and now represents everything you want in a goalkeeper.

"As a player he is still hugely determined and hungry to achieve more. We all look forward to working together to meet those ambitions over the coming years."

Great news, although I am shocked TBH, not sure why he would want to spend his whole career not winning stuff, but hopefully this helps us get back there.

Not sure what Ray will be posting after this though, this news undercuts what he's been saying nonstop.

Clearly he has not been able to find another club who will pay him that sort of money.
As the "proud to announce" announcement says he is the worlds highest paid golakeeper and i suspect that he has now realised through playing through the Glazer era there is nothing more important than money
Not pride,not ambition just cash

I am not sure why you think this will "hopefully get us back there"
Why?have we signed 3 midfielders and a top centre forward?
Did i miss something or is a Donald Trump "wait and see"

What a week for the Glazers
The Buccs win what many regard as a very poor game,United win what many regard as a very poor game and the Ladies team are on national TV tonight
I am not sure how much United get for that mighty game but "what's the bottom line?"

It was because of Sir Alex and his actions that so upset McManus and Magnier that we ended up with skint, greedy dead weight directors
They in turn convinced him that if he carried on with dead weight players until they were too old to walk never mind run and paid him handsomly to do that(£2m a year as an ambassador if he can save £75m in transfers)

At the end of his management time at this club his ethos was NOT to get rid of dead weight players
As examples i offer the likes of Anderson,Cleverley,Welbeck.Chicorito
All piles of shit that stayed many years too long and even had some fans supporting and defending them
That was the SAF ethos and the theory thereon remains his legacy

He's going to end up playing for United the rest of his career. Would have been a great story had it not been De Gea. Can't stand that guy.

I totally agree.I also don't like world class players that have saved the club for 4 out of the last 5 years
I would also rather have the likes of Fred,Perreira,Lukaku,,Lingaard,Matic,Bailly
they all get you sat on the edge of your seat don't they
I assume you couldn't stand Keane and Scholes either   Me neither!!
I preferred fat arsed Anderson and Chicorito.Top top class
