England

Thu Sep 28, 2017 2:45 pm

I think England are in a bit of trouble at the moment. We lack any real quality Kane aside. Even with just a couple of players out our depth is just abysmal

Goalkeepers: Butland, Forster, Hart, Pickford

Defenders: Bertrand, Cahill, Cresswell, Jones, Keane, Maguire, Smalling, Stones, Walker, Trippier

Midfielders: Dier, Delph, Henderson, Lingard, Livermore, Oxlade-Chamberlain

Forwards: Alli, Defoe, Kane, Rashford, Sterling, Sturridge

How players like Trippier, Maguire and Livermore get into an international set up of a nation like England is just a joke. Their is no leader. Their is no real world class player. All over the park looks weak as piss. Going on that squad I'd play something like this:

Rutland/Pickford
Walker Cahill Jones Bertrand
Dier Delph
Sterling Ali Lingard
Kane

Excellent attacking options. Pretty good for goalkeepers. Midfield is below average and defence is as well.

Midfield is poor. Below poor. Defence is crap. Keepers are no where near good enough. Kane it top notch. On paper we have a good attacking line but Sterling and Sturridge never deliver.

You'd play Lingard ahead of Rashford..?

I wouldn't play Delph either.

Definatley play Lingard he would add a bit more balance to the team and would help out defensively. Rashford obviously to come on off the bench later on.
Delph is better than Henderson. If he was playing at somewhere like Arsenal or Southampton he would play week in week out. He is wasted at city

It took Delph two years of excellent form to get his first England call up. He's then not included in several squads and it takes him about 300 minutes of football and two goals to get called up again. Ridiculous.

He would really suit arsenal at the moment imo

Our keepers are crap. We've got good forwards and that's it.

I can see the argument for Lingard. He's a solid, though unspectacular performer, and he doesn't wilt under pressure. Sometimes you need that for the other players to shine. He'll never be a celebrated player, but he can make it possible for Kane to be.

I really like Trippier, not sure why your surprised he's in the squad, fantastic passer of the ball.

Butland should start. Defence is mediocre but would agree with the 4 you have starting the game, midfield is poor Dier aside, not sure who I would have starting next to him, haven't been convinced by Henderson, Kane should be leading the line with Alli supporting and I would have Rashford and Sterling making up the top 4.
We can field a decent 11 but the depth is shockingly poor.

England would rather select an unnecessary 4 keepers rather than drop Hart.

Just read Ste's OP and I could've almost written that myself. Comparing the England team to the one from 10-15 years ago is scary!

Neville - Rio -Terry - Cole as a great back 4. The likes of Scholes Lampard Gerrard Beckham (pity they made Scholesy play on the left but still, look at the quality). Owen and Rooney in his prime up front too. How easily would that team wipe thef loor with the current lot?

Team before that had the likjes of Seaman, Adams, Pearce, Gazza, Platt and Ince, Shearer &Sheringham

Team before that: Shilton, Adams, Sansom, Robbo & Wilkins in the centre, Barnes & Waddle out wide, Beardsley and Lineker up top.

The England team has never been so poor in all my time of watching the game - sad really.

So boring. Literally nothing happening. Rashford the only player doing anything. Sterling has been so bad.

Just a shame as an Englishman it is that I mean that in a bad way.

I don't have the stats to back this up but it appears to me that Sterling needs a lot of chances to get any return from. With City he is getting lots of chances.

He's scored 5 league goals from out wide in 6 games (2 off the bench). I don't care how many chances he's needed, that's a decent return tbh.

I should have known that because he is in my fantasy team - I think.
