One of the craziest days of International football I have ever seen.

Chile got hammered, and Argentina, needing a win, were saved by the king as he scored a hattrick to put them in to the world cup. A late Peru goal put Chile out the world cup as Columbia took the final spot and Peru go into a qualifier against New Zealand. Peru and Colombia basically agreed from there that a draw suits both parties

In CONCACAF, the unthinkable happened and the USA, Needing just 1 of 3 results to go their way, are out. They were down early to Trinidad, who came last but both Panama and Honduras made epic come back to send USA out. Honduras go into a playoff against Australia

Never a pen. And if that was then NI should have had one themselves later on. The result was probably fair though.

Hoping for a better performance in the second leg. It will be shit to miss out like this.

It is a massive task to go there and get a 2 goal win - we really needed to take a lead going into the 2nd leg or at worst a draw.

The only good thing is we have to go for it but if we do go out due to that decision it will be a tough one to take.

Amazing stat - following tonights goalless game which meant it failed to qualify for a WC for only the 2nd time ever and the first since1958!

The scorelines in the last 6 WC qualifiers have been:

Denmark v Rep Ireland 0-0
Switzerland v N Ireland 0-0
Greece v Croatia 0-0
Honduras v Australia 0-0
New Zealand v Peru 0-0
Italy v Sweden 0-0

Two further goals against this Danish side is quite manageable.

For sure. Just not sure Ireland have the quality. Only the gravity of the occasion and a bit of luck may pull them through.

Fair play to Eriksen though. There have been 21 players on the pitch of roughly equal ability and then theres been Eriksen!

For sure. Turned the tie. Can't really complain about Ireland. Some questionable defending but overall played to their ability.
