Hello from Arizona

Tue May 28, 2013 1:15 am

Finally found the Hello & Welcome, I figured there had to be one someplace.

As the handle implies I am living in Arizona, Prescott AZ, and have been here for the last 3 years. The irony is that I was born in Whiston Hospital in Prescot (just outside of St Helens). Although St Helens is a rugby town I started following United in 58 (who didn't), started to get fanatical in 64 and critical meltdown stage in 68.

Moved to America in 72 and have been going home for games since the late eighties.

I can't believe it. I can't believe it. Football. Bloody hell.

Hello and welcome to the board.

I think we have another member with a name very similar to yours, if not then I am going senile.

Who are some of your favourite players? Best you've seen etc?

How do I answer a question like this? I almost got into a fight with myself trying to make picks, so I have limited it to player they I have watch in person.

George Best will always be my personal favorite, maybe because I was a teenage when he played for United and I envied his lifestyle. In truth he had a set of gears above everyone else on the pitch. Dennis Law was the cheekiest player ever and if I am going to mention those two then I would have to complete the trinity and give a call out to Charlton.

John Connelly not one of the best but when I was growing up I was told he was a distant cousin and that got me following United. I always like Nobby Stilles because he was such a goofy looking fornicate.

I was in the Navy during the mid and late sixties so getting to game was sporadic and the telly wasn’t what it is today. Even with special mention to Giggs and Scholes it is very difficult to separate the class of 92, in their heyday they where the best that United has produced.

Schmeichel
Neville, Rio, Vidic, Irwin
Best, Keeno, Scholes, Giggs
Cantona, Rooney

Subs: every player that has ever put on the United kit
I can't believe it. I can't believe it. Football. Bloody hell.

You're probably thinking of Red Devil ZA Martin.

Welcome RedDevilInAZ. Is it the extra t in the name that made you move to where you are now?

I always figured I would retire in the southwest and Prescott is up in the mountains so it doesn't get too hot or too cold. Fours seasons, none are extreme and it get 325+ days of sunshine a year. Two hours from Phoenix, 4 hours from the Sea of Cortez, 4 hours from Vegas and 6 hours from the west coast.

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. I'll will definitely be putting my opinion in on the debate. The good thing about opinions is is that they are not alway right or always wrong, they are just opinions.

Again thanks to everyone for the welcome.
