Thu May 17, 2018 8:10 pm

Whats everyone's thoughts?

Who's gonna win?

What about the squads?

Shall we even bother with some sort of predictor competition???

It's hard to look pasted the usual suspects; Germany, Spain, Brazil etc. Maybe an outsider like France or Belgium or even one last hooray for Argentine and Messi.

As for the England squad, I rather like what Southgate has done, for the first time I can remember the squad appears to have been picked on current form rather than reputation, with Wellbeck the exception that make the rule.

Welbeck has is a useful player. If England come up against a team where they need to defend, close down quickly and hope to score from a set piece, Welbeck would be superb for that.

Goals galore in this England team, Kane 40+, Vardy 20+, Sterling 20+, Lingard and Rashford 13 goals, Alli 14 goals...

I look at Southgate's squad and I think, I can't really disagree with any of his picks. That hasn't really been the case before in the past. It's not a great squad, but it is the best one.

No googling now! Do you know who is the top international goal scorer in that England squad?

Welbeck I guess. I know he has a good record for England, about 17 goals from 35 apps.

Kane has 13, Vardy has 7 I think.

Sterling barely scores for England, same for Alli. There isn't anyone else who has played enough games to come close.

I'd agree with that. Some in the media are moaning that he's not taken Jack Wheelchair, but fornicate him, he'd be off on a stretcher inside the first minute.

All the teams have been asked to submit a motto or phrase to be put on the team coach, England have chosen "Keep the engine running"

That’s more Jack Wilshere complaining, I think he’s picked the right team, I may have changed one or two picks but nothing more than that.
Glad to see Hart left out

By all accounts Southgate called Wilshere to tell him he had been selected, but Wilshere injured hisself answering the call. :)

It's been rather entertaining so far I have to say. Aside from Saudi Arabia, everyone else has turned up.

The Ronaldo show was spectacular, France won undeservedly and England was comical, everything you would expect from a World Cup.

Ingeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrlahhhhhhhhhhhhnds first outing was like watching United, shit in one half, great in the other in a game they should have scored 6 or 7.

Is VAR being used to point out how many times the Ref gets a decision wrong ?

Brazil and Germany have a fair chance of winning it. but you can not eliminate the underdog teams like Croatia and costa Rica. They are performing great in this world cup.
If you ask my answer, it is Brazil :)
I am Watching world cup online with the prayers that Brazil will lift the cup.
