Daley Blind returning to Ajax?

Thu Jul 12, 2018 9:58 pm

Thats what a Dutch newspaper claims anyway, supposed to be announced before the United squad heads to the US and A .

Whats your overall judgement of his United time?

I'm happy to see him return, you guys are probably happy to seem him leave

A decent player who could fill-in at a few positions and make those around him better, however his skills could not make up for his lac of speed.

Thought he was probably the best squad player since John O'Shea and I'll miss him if it's true.
Never once saw him play that he didn't give his all.

I think it's a mistake, you need good squad players that can fill in in a number of positions and do a good job in most. Mourinho never really took to him, probably for that reason, but he was one of the smartest players at the club and could have contributed much more.

For his sake, I hope he goes to Ajax, or somewhere else, where he can perform regularly and show people how good he can be.

I always felt he was too slow for the PL, he had games like when he owned Lukaku against Everton there was always at least one mistake in his game.

I have wondered why Mourinho never really gave him a chance. Good luck to him wherever he ends up.

wasted @ left-back

would've been ideal deep lying midfielder, great technique & passing range.

will never forget his goal vs liverpool (martial debut) and that strike vs WBA in Hawthorns.

Operation get rid of dead wood is well under way.

I'd keep Blind ahead of Darmian Smalling etc but I'd get rid of all of them

Good on Blind for wanting to continue his career rather than stay and collect his pay check for nothing like his colleagues

This and the Tadic (from Southampton) transfer are sort of special for Ajax: they rarely get to attract players from top competitions that are still in their prime. Blind could have gone to lots of clubs and make a lot more money. Players like him 'usually' return to Ajax aged 34 or something to play 1 or 2 seasons.

I think it's a great deal for everyone. United have somehow made a profit on him, Ajax have a decent player in his prime, he goes back a hero.

I'm not sad he's left, I don't think he was ever quite what we needed. He's certainly not a walking disaster like Lovren, but he wasn't ever really anything more than just decent I suppose. There are others who should be moved on as well, and probably before him, but if there was someone who wanted him now, do the deal.
